About the programme
Would you like to work in the cross field
between planning and management, technology, business economics and
people? Would you like to work with the planning and optimizing for the
internal manufacturing process of firms?

The goal of the programme
The job of the Production
Engineer is to change, optimize, or create new technical processes
which for example include mechanical, electronic, or chemical
solutions. Often management processes are involved, such as the
handling of information and work processes.
The Production Engineer also takes an active part in improving the
performance and co-operation of employees. This is done through
initiatives concerning the development of the organization and
competencies. Consequently, the Production Engineer is a key person in
any business.
The Production Engineer must control everything regarding the
products. The same goes for the production itself, but equally in the
work with planning, project management, and solving of technical and
logistical problems during the production process. In this connection
it is important also to have skills to make the different elements and
people work together.
This means you must be the resource person who has insight into and
can facilitate better cooperation, communication, organization, and
management. In short, you are capable of influencing production and
co-operative processes.
The structure of the programme
The scheduled period of study at the Production Engineer program is
3½ years including 6 months internship in a Danish or foreign firm. The
program is built like a four leaf clover where the core consists of
engineering and personal competencies, while the four leaves are made
up of the fields of science: Management, Technology, Economics, and
Information Technology. The knowledge within these fields is put into a
business related context where the interaction between the individual
elements and the business elements is vital.
During the study, you will meet the four leaf clover both on the
obligatory courses and through the projects. On the first four semester
of the Production Engineer program, you will carry out a project. The
project on the first semesters is about Product Analysis, on the second
semester it is about Process Analysis, on the third semester the
project is about a Manufacturing Company, while focus on the fourth
semester is directed toward Problem Analysis in a business.
Apart from the projects, you will also take part in a number of course
works. The course work is among other things about materials science,
statics and strengths, business economics, statistics, control
technology and automation, quality control, differential equations, and
business systems.
In the fifth semester you will have your internship in a Danish or
foreign firm. Here you will have the opportunity to combine your
theoretical engineering skills with practical engineering work in a
business.
After your internship, you begin your last year of study which
includes a number of elective courses and projects on the sixth
semester and the bachelor project on the seventh semester. The elective
courses include Business law, Marketing, Production Optimization,
Project Management, Macro Economics, and Simulation. Through the
bachelor project and the elective courses you choose, you will have the
opportunity to create your own engineering profile which will make you
unique on the labor market.

machine industry, food industry, and pharmaceutical industry.
But Production Engineers also find work in the trade and service
sector, in public organizations, and in the consultancy services
industry. For instance you can become project leader, production
manager, logistics manager, quality manager, or management consultant.
The possibilities are many. From summer 2011 the education is available
in both Danish and English.
The Production Engineer finds employment in all types of businesses.
The task of the Production Engineer is to change, optimize, or create
