Accommodation

Accommodation in Denmark is scarce. IHK offers to assist in finding accommodation for exchange students in student halls or with private landlords in the area of Ballerup and Greater Copenhagen. Most students are offered single rooms with a private bathroom and access to shared kitchen facilities. A few students are offered double rooms. The room is furnished with a bed (no linen or duvets), a bed table, a chair, a writing desk and lamp.

Please include your application for accommodation when applying for an exchange programme at IHK. Otherwise we shall not be abler to offer you any accommodation.

If you apply for the exchange programme and for accommodation after the application deadline, we cannot guarantee to find housing for you; however, we shall do what we can to help you.

Shortly before the semester starts, you will receive information about your accommodation, that is in late July and late December. As accommodation is scarce in the Copenhagen area, we will not be able to fulfil specific requirements about accommodation. Rent has gone up in the Copenhagen area and rooms typically cost between DKK 14,000 - 17,000 for one semester. In addition you must pay a deposit (ranging between DKK 4,000 - 6,600)

If you arrive in Copenhagen before the Orientation Day (which is the date upon which we have been able to offer you accommodation), please make a reservation at a youth hostel or at a hotel.

Arrival

The Orientation Day for exchange students is always conducted on the last Friday before semester start on 1 September / 1 February. The coming Orientation Days are  Friday 27 August 2010 - Friday 28 January 2011 - Friday 26 August 2011.

On the Orientation Day students are able to pick up their keys and contracts for their accommodation.
