International academic environment
Each Summer Copenhagen University College of Engineering invites both international and Danish students to attend one or two of our Summer School courses. In 2009 the Summer School program attracted 164 students from all over the world.
Copenhagen University College of Engineering (IHK) has organized summer school programs since 2004 and offers a series of courses taught in English in the summer of 2010:
- Mobile Communications and
m-commerce
- From Local to Global Business
- Satellite Technology and Communication
- Innovation and Business
Design
- International Engineering Project
- International
Design & Development
- Security in IT Systems
- Cross-Cultural Management and
Marketing
- Intensive Danish course
- Mathematics from B → A level
Target Group
Higher Education students who meet the academic requirements of the individual courses.
Fees
Students from EU/EEC
countries
Students with a citizenship from within the EU/EEC countries (Incl.
Danish nationals) can participate on a non-tuition basis as long as
they can document the course(s) will be counted towards their degree.
The documentation must accompany the application.
EU/EEC-citizen students that cannot get the approval of credit transfer
are welcome to participate on a tuition fee basis; these students are
charged the same rate as Danish Open University students, which is
currently 200 EURO (1,500 DKK) per course of 7,5 ECTS.
Students from outside EU/EEC
countries
Students with a citizenship from outside the EU/EEC countries can
participate on a non-tuition basis if they come from a partner
institution and are nominated as exchange students.
Students with a citizenship from outside the EU/EEC countries that are
not nominated or come from an institution that is not a partner can
apply to participate as a non-European Free-mover. The cost of the
program is 1,670 EURO (12,500 DKK) per course of 7.5 ECTS.
Duration
The duration of each course is three
weeks.
Except International Engineering Project and International Design &
Development - four weeks.
ECTS credits
Each Summer School course counts 7.5
ECTS.
Except International Engineering Project and International Design &
Development, that count 10 ECTS each and Danish Language and Culture,
which counts 5 ECTS.
Admission criteria
Admission is conditioned by the “first come, first served” principle, by the number of students and by fulfilment of academic requirements. Applicants from our partner institutions have first priority.

Application
Deadline for all courses is May 1, 2010

Visa requirements
Please check the following link to the Danish Immigration services to see whether or not you need to apply for a tourist visa.
Students who are citizens in the EU/EEC or Nordic countries do not need a tourist visa.
Students with a nationality that need a visa to enter Denmark, but are
residing in a Schengen country at the time of the Summer School
program, can stay in Denmark for up to 90 days provided their Schengen
visa is valid for the whole period in question.
Students that fall outside of the two categories may need a tourist
visa to enter Denmark: It depends on nationality. If you need a tourist
visa, you should apply BEFORE LEAVING HOME to the Danish
embassy/consulate in your home country as soon as possible, as the
Danish Immigration Services can take up to three months to approve a
visa application.
Accommodation
We are able, to some extent, to arrange accommodation, depending on the specific period. The options for summer 2010 are listed below.
July 5 – July 23
In the period July 5 – July 23 IHK can arrange accommodation in student residence halls or private accommodation depending on availability. The price range is DKK 2,250 - 3,300, apx. 300-440 Euros.
August 2 – August 20
In the period August 2 – August 20, IHK can arrange accommodation in student residence halls or private accommodation depending on availability. The price range is DKK 2,250 - 3,300, apx. 300-440 Euros.
July 24 – August 1
In the period July 24 – August 1, IHK is not able to arrange
accommodation, except for students on the International Engineering
Project and International Design & Development course; however, we
will try to assist you to the best of our ability.
If you take two courses, from July 5 - August 20, we can arrange
accomodation in the entire period.
The application form contains a request form for accomodation.
Certificate
An official certificate will be awarded after successful completion of the course.
Other activities
Our summer school courses include a welcome party, a guided tour around Copenhagen and an excursion 'Kings, Castles and Modern Art'.
Most of our summer school courses also
include one or two company visits.
Language of instruction
English - recommended level: TOEFL
550/IELTS 6.5
Students must be able to communicate adequately in English in writing
as well as orally.
Class Schedule
The class schedule is normally from 9 am to 3 pm Monday-Friday. On the last day Friday July 23/August 20 we finish at 2 pm including an End-of-Summer-School Celebration.

Summer School for graduates
Graduates are most welcome to apply for our summer school courses.
Fees for graduates
EU/EEC-citizen graduates are welcome to
participate on a tuition fee basis; these students are charged the same
rate as Danish Open University students, which is currently DKK 1,500
(apx. 200 EURO) per course of 7.5 ECTS.
Graduates with a citizenship from outside the EU/EEC countries can
apply to participate as a non-European Free-mover. The cost of the
program is DKK 12,500 (apx 1,660 EURO) per course of 7.5 ECTS.
